It was made known earlier this week that Anderson Cooper may be one of Matt Lauer‘s replacements at the end of 2013. Although, Alexandra Wallace, an overseer at “Today,”denies these claims, I can’t help but think there’s a hint of truth to them. As someone who grew up watching Matt Lauer and Katie Couric every morning, I absolutely loved everything about the “Today” show, the energy and the people. This may be horrible to say, but I’m not at all sad about this decision. With Matt’s plagued image tainting the show, there is no doubt in my mind that he should be replaced. During the past couple years, the famous Today anchor has proven to be more of a thorn in the side of the show than anything else. Between his noteworthy disputes with guest on air, including Tom Cruise, or even his fellow co-host Ann Curry, Matt has definitely had more downs than ups during the past few years. Not only has he showed animosity on air, but off air as well. One of his former interns recently reported via Twitter that the journalist was everything but welcoming during his internship stating, “I was an intern there in ’97, his first year on the job…how do I say this?…he was…not nice.” Well, it’s good to know that the journalist hasn’t changed over the years. Maybe that’s the real reason why Katie Couric left? Anyway, I’m positively thrilled to hear that NBC may be considering Cooper as one of Matt’s replacement, even if it is a rumor! As one of the main faces of CNN, a successful show host, and just an overall excellent journalist, Cooper is by far, the best choice!
Ever wonder whose in control of tracking the view counts on your television? Have you questioned who or what exactly determines the fate of your favorite television shows? Well, I’m gonna tell you all about it! The fate of all your guilty pleasures is inevitably sealed by Nielson. Nielson, the world’s leading audience measurement company, was established in 1936 by Arthur C. Nielson. Nielson is responsible for tracking more than 40% of the world’s viewing behavior, from your home Television sets and computers, to your handheld PDA’s. Through their technology, Nielson is able to pinpoint and track who you are, what your watching, and when your watching it. Does anyone else find that the least bit creepy? (**Big Brother **) But anyway, the company rates the view count of television shows and other programs, through tracking Local People Meters. Judging by all of the great shows I’ve watched that have been cancelled, I don’t think these people are the best to go by. Like what happened to Flash Forward, V, Heroes, or even 90’s cult classics like My So-Called Life and Freaks and Geeks? These “Local People” must not be watching the right shows! Based on these Local People Meters, reality television shows sadly continue to strive, while excellently written and politically relevant shows continue to plunge. I honestly think that the Nielson’s viewing data is inaccurate, seeing as how they fail to track DVR recordings. Hardly anyone I know watches television shows at the exact time they air, people either record them and watch them later, or watch them on a program sharing site like Hulu. I don’t know about you all but I’m just tired of the good television shows being cancelled due to defective and out of date consumer tracking company’s like Nielson.
How do you guys feel about Nielson’s tracking method? Does it accurately depict the “top” shows on television?
What are some of your favorite television shows that have been cancelled?
This weekend Rapper T.I was in for quite a scare when Rapper/Friend, Lil Wayne, was misreported to be near-death and in the hospital. Wayne, who was shocked by the rumors surrounding his health, was briefly hospitalized after having suffered from a seizure early Friday. Yesterday TMZ reported that Wayne was being delivered “his last rites” and that family and friends were waiting solemnly by his bed side. Immediately after these false reports circulated, family and friends repudiated via Twitter. T.I, himself, tweeted and bashed TMZ after misleading him. But honestly T.I, it kind of worries me that your #1 news outlet is TMZ; I mean they’re basically the televised edition of the National Enquirer!
What do you guys think? Was T.I wrong to lash out at TMZ? Yay or Nay?
Carnival has yet again managed to disappoint another set of passengers, 4,300 to be exact. After the emergency generator failed on the Carnival Dream, Carnival was forced to fly all of their passengers back to Florida. The nightmare mirrored the horrid conditions passengers faced on the Carnival Triumph, the power shut off, no passengers were able to leave the ship, and yes, the toilets were out again. Similarly to the Triumph, passengers will be receiving a refund for their trip, as well as 50% off of their next cruise on the Carnival line. But after an experience like this, would you really want to vacation with Carnival again? CNN interviewed several passengers aboard the Dream, one of which stated,” There’s human waste all over the floor in some of the bathrooms and they’re overflowing.” Another passenger reported that “the cruise director is giving passengers very limited information and tons of empty promises.” Really Carnival? How could you afford for this to happen again? Did you not learn anything from the Triumph?
If this situation happened to any of you, would you give Carnival another chance? If so, why?

The New Pope will be……………………………………………………………………..Pope Francis
Jorge Mario Bergoglio (Argentina). He will reign as the first South American/Non-European Pope. With the Catholic Church having been plagued with scandal for the past couple years, this move can be viewed as strictly political. With South America containing the largest amount of Catholics, the conclave had no choice then to revitalize the Catholic faith with the reigning of the First South American Pope.
What do you guys think? Was this a political decision?
Are you in favor of St. Francis?
Halle Berry has confirmed her rumored return to the X-Men Franchise! During her interview on Jay Leno’s The Tonight Show, the Academy award nominated actress revealed that she would love to return to this exciting role, stating: “It’s a character that I love and the fans really love the whole series.” Hopefully the new movie will shed some light on Berry, as her personal life has been source of many storms this year, including: the arrest of ex-husband Gabriel Aubry after having fought with fighter, fiance Olivier Martinez. But hey, beauty comes at a price, and obviously Berry’s is her relationship baggage. Needless to say, Berry is ecstatic to return to her X-Men family. She and several other characters actors including, Hugh Jackman, Anna Paquin, Patrick Stewart, and Ellen Page, will be raining in the millions as the X-Men franchise continues to grow. The Storm is set to return summer of 2014 in X-Men:Days of Future Past.
As the black smoke is released, so is the news signaling a lack of conclusion to the first ballot.
A new pope will not be elected as of yet.
Here’s a little slice of reality; beginning April 25th, TSA has announced that small pocket knives, sports equipment, and recreational bats, will be allowed on planes as carry-on luggage. To no surprise, Flight attendants have already expressed their disdain for the new policy. Alongside the Flight attendants, Delta Air Lines‘s CEO has written TSA’s head administrator about his opposition against the policy. Many others, including New York’s Senator, Charles Schumer, has stated that reducing security measures, now, is the opposite of what we should be doing. Not only is it risky, but allowing these items can only lengthen the time it takes to get through security checkpoints….Lightbulb! After April 25th, the TSA screeners will have to measure these items crucially to ensure they meet the requirements: all knives must be foldable, 2.36 in length and an 1/2 inch wide. I can’t believe we’re handing out guidelines for terrorist, I’m pretty sure those are already included in Terrorism for Dummies. We might as well have Will Ferrell hosting a Knife special on QVC, advertising the “perfect plane-sized knives!”
But that’s just my opinion, what do you guys think?
Does anybody else wonder how nice it would be to live a day in the life of James Franco? Not only is he a great actor, writer, producer, and film teacher, but a painter as well. Just this week he was honored a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame. Come on now, I barely have enough time to make a blog, so someone please tell me how the hell James Franco has so much free time on his hands? When not starring in the latest movies, such as the newly released Oz the Great and Powerful, or the latest Funny or Die videos, James Franco can be found teaching film classes at prestigious colleges such as New York University and Columbia. In addition to teaching, Franco has returned to school several times and claimed three M.F.A’s, Master of Fine Arts, degrees from Columbia, Brooklyn College, and NYU. Like, come on Franco, at least leave your competition their dignity! I wonder what it’s like to be his parents? I mean their son is everywhere, or should I say (sons)? Dave Franco, who starred in the 2012 re-make of the movie 21 Jump Street and the hit television show Scrubs, is just as talented and attractive as his brother. There must be something in that Palo Alto water (where the Franco’s were born and raised). I feel like James’s parents gave birth to him, and after his success, was like “Oh, what the hell? Let’s give this another shot.” Mama Franco is basically birthing millions, go Mama Franco!
But don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t always a J-Franco fan. In fact, I thought he was one of those actors who gained their roles simply by being extremely good looking, and nothing else. However, after being swayed by his performances in movies like James Dean, Milk, and 127 hours, I have become a fan of the actor. I mean, how can you not like James Franco? And if your not a fan of his more serious roles, how about his comedic roles in the stoner cult classic, Freaks and Geeks, or Pineapple Express? Regardless of your feelings towards Franco, he’ll continue to be side smiling his way into the box office as his new movie, Oz the Great and Powerful, brings in a whopping $80 Mil Plus!
How do you guys feel about James Franco? Love him, Hate him, or On the fence?
Have you seen OZ yet? If so, What did you think? Yay or Nay?
